YUKA TSURUNO GALLERY is pleased to announce a solo exhibition by Tim Barber entitled Relations from September 28 (Sat) to November 9 (Sat), 2013.
Tim Barber is known for his elegantly composed observations that locate complex beauty in the seemingly mundane. His images create interwoven narratives that are as generous to the viewer as they are mysterious. From portraits to landscapes to narrative scenes, Barber approaches all of his subject matter with a palpable delicacy. For his third solo exhibition at Yuka Tsuruno Gallery "Relations" , Barber will show 23 previously unreleased works, and will release his latest monograph, also titled "Relations", edited and designed by Barber himself, in conjunction with the show. This will be the second monograph of Barber's work published by gallery. Please join us for a reception and book signing for Tim Barber on Friday, September 27, 2013, from 6-8pm.
Tim Barber was born in 1979 in Vancouver Canada, grew up in Western Massachusetts, and now lives in New York City. Known equally for his curatorial practice as he is a photographer, Barber is the former photo editor of Vice Magazine, and the mind behind the hugely influential on-line gallery and image archive www.tinyvices.com.

During the same dates, a photo exhibition "Shinonome Photo Festival 2013" will be held at the art center TOLOT/Heuristic Shinonome where the gallery locates. The opening reception will be held together with this event and G/P+G3 Gallery, on Friday, September 27th, 6-8pm.

YUKA TSURUNO GALLERYはティム・バーバーの新作展「Relations」を9月28日（土）～11月9日（土）まで開催いたします。
一見無造作な場面の中に混然と潜む繊細な美しさを発見し、切り取る、その独特の鋭い審美眼で最近益々注目されているティム・バーバー。彼の作品は観るものにとって寛容で受け取り易いイメージであると同時に、どこか謎めいたナラティブな要素が織り込まれ、私達の目線を惹き付けます。バーバーの扱う主題はポートレイト、ランドスケープからナラティブなシーンに至るまで多岐にわたり、いまNYで最も勢いのあるフォトグラファーとして人気を集めています。
今回YUKA TSURUNO GALLERYでの３回目の個展となる本展「Relations」では、NYカルチャーシーンの寵児と言われているアーティストのオーレル・シュミットとザ・ヴァージンズのボーカル、ドナルド・カミングのカップルを撮影したシリーズ「Aurel & Donald」を含む、未発表作品２３点のプリントを展示。また、本展にあわせて、ティム・バーバー本人のデザインと編集による、最新のモノグラフ「Relations」をリリースいたします。前回の個展に併せて出版された「Welcome to Earth」に続き、弊ギャラリーから出版される２冊目のモノグラフになります。9月27日（金）6時〜8時まで、ティム・バーバーを囲んでレセプションパーティーとブックサイニングを開催いたします。
ティム・バーバーは、1979年バンクーバー生まれ、西部マサチューセッツ州育ち。現在はニューヨークを拠点に活動しています。写真家であると共にキュレーターとしても知られているバーバーは、「Vice Magazine」のフォトエディターとして活躍後、ライアン・マッギンレー、アリ・マルコポロス、ピーター・サザーランド等の人気写真家からニュージェネレーションの作家までが作品を寄稿するオンラインギャラリーとイメージアーカイブのサイト www.tinyvices.com を立ち上げ、その後のアート界に大きな影響を与えました。また、ステラ・マッカートニーやオープニングセレモニーをはじめとする数々のファッションクライアントを持ち、作家活動も精力的に行っています。
